Truck Training

For a student to qualify for training they must meet the following requirements:

Minimum age - 18 years with Class 5 license (NB resident).
Newfoundland - 18/Class 5 (1-year minimum)
Northwest Territories - 18/Class 5 (6-months minimum)
Nova Scotia - 19/Class 5 (2-year minimum)
Ontario - 18/Class 5 (6-months minimum)
Prince Edward Island - 18/Class 5 (6-months minimum)
Quebec - 19/Class 5 (3-year minimum)
Saskatchewan - 18/Class 5 (6-months minimum)
Yukon - 18/Class 5 (6-months minimum)

training_board.jpg (6089 bytes)Note: We have listed the minimum age that a person can train for a Class 1E license from each province, but you should be aware that it may be difficult to get a job until you are 21 years of age (i.e. You have to be 21 years of age to drive a tractor trailer in the US.)

  • Valid drivers license (must not have any fines outstanding as Motor Vehicle will not approve the training license).
  • Meet provincial medical and eye screening
    requirements
    . (Must have at least 20/30 in best eye and no less than 20/50 in weakest eye - and must not be colour blind)
